ELOPEMENTS
We do simple elopements.
What makes an elopement simple? It’s the two of you + family and friends + an officiant + a photographer (okay, bring your dog, dogs are always welcome).
Just because you are planning a wedding in the Smokies does not mean it won’t be a grand affair. It can be - but for the couple who wants to exchange vows, get some great pictures, then maybe go have a lovely dinner or simply relax back at their cabin or hotel, here it is. Short and sweet. Intimate. No fuss. Simple.
We have photographed the “big” weddings. We are happy to see a lot more couples are simplifying how they are getting married and we are here to help them get quality, professional portraits of what matters.

The type of service will be customized to your preferences (secular, religious, short and sweet, etc.). Tennessee allows clergy and some elected officials of other states to solemnize a marriage. Only notaries licensed in Tennessee may solemnize a marriage. Let’s talk if you plan on having someone who is a family member or friend act as an officiant.

FAQ
Can I have my decor/getting ready shots/reception photographed?
No. This will mean no “getting ready” shots, decor shots, reception pictures, or exit shots. The simple elopement is intended to capture great images of the ceremony and the couple, as well as the limited number of guests who may be there. If pictures like that are important to you, there are a number of local wedding photographers who can provide their services.
What is the Special Use Permit?
The National Park Service requires Special Use Permits (SUPs) for ceremonies held at designated spots. We will handle obtaining one, if needed. Certain limitations may apply, such as no weddings permitted in Cades Cove on October weekends due to the number of tourists.
What if I wanted to get married this weekend and there is not time for a Special Use Permit?
If we are not booked, let us help you find a place for your vow exchange. Don’t worry - just call.
Can you also handle the Marriage License?
Sorry, no - you have to apply for that in person. The good news is that you can start your application on line and then pick it up when you get to the Smokies. Here is the information for obtaining one in Sevier County, TN if you plan on marrying on the Tennessee side of the Smokies, and here is the information for obtaining one if you plan on in Swain County, NC if you plan on getting married on the North Carolina side of the Smokies. Yes, the Great Smoky Mountains Naitonal Park spans two states!
