FAQs

Does the photographer hide in a bush or something?

Most of the time, we are hiding in plain sight. There are countless nature photographers to be found in the mountains so the sight of someone with a camera on a tripodin front of a beautiful natural feature is commonplace. In any event, we have our tricks and each proposal is uniquely planned.

What if the weather is bad?

The weather in the mountains can be very unpredictable and if the rangers feel there is a danger due to snow, ice, or wind, roads will be closed. However, we have found that we can always find a “Plan B” to make it happen and will work with you to be flexible as to dates and times as best we can. To date, no propoal has had to be cancelled due to weeather Forecasts are always checked, even looking at the local airport’s METAR report to make sure a view is not obscured by fog and mist - after all, theya re called the “Smokies” for a reason!

What if other people are there?

People want to be helpful. When we ask people to move away from a spot after telling them what is going to happen, they are more than happy to oblige - and excited, too, to be part of the plan! Think about it, the people who witness your proposal get to go home and tell others, “You’re not going to believe what we saw happen in the Smokies!” Your proposal brings joy! Please keep in mind that these are public areas so you will never be able to make sure no one is around.

Can I add something special, such as a picnic with some flowers?

For additional charges and within park regulations, we can make the setting special per your requirements. Sorry, no alcohol but we can provide suggestions for where to celebrate afterwards.

Are you LGBTQ friendly?

Yup!

Has anyone ever said no?

Never.

What about the bears?

While no bear has ever interrupted a proposal, they have been spotted. It is their home, after all - we are just guests! That being said, accommodations are made when wildlife activity may delay you in arriving on time. There is little to no cellphone service in the park so we will wait an hour past the scheduled time at the proposal site since you may be unable to contact us.

Do you only do proposals in the Smokies?

We have done proposals in several places in East Tennessee - and we are always willing to travel!
